Richard Palma Regional Champion 2000 in MTB Uphill

At the 7th race of the MTB South Tyrol Cup series, which was also classified as a regional championship, Hannes Pallhuber landed a commanding victory this year after 1999. He pulled away from his closest rivals from his own team, Werner Weiss and Berthold Mair, immediately after the start on the 10.8 km course with 900 metres of altitude difference in light drizzle. Behind them, Franz Pfattner (Proﬁ Bike), Mike Felderer and Walter Perkmann (both RC Sarntal) were able to keep the gap within limits.
As the race progressed, Pallhuber and Weiss set the pace and set a clear best time of 45:31 min and 45:39 min respectively. However, Hannes Pallhuber's course record from the previous year was never in danger. Werner Weiss was only 8 seconds behind Pallhuber at the finish and secured victory in the absolute master class with a superior margin. An exceptional performance was given by the only 17-year-old junior Mike Felderer, who clearly won the junior classification with the 5th overall place. The victory in the women's category went to the favoured Alexandra Hober from U.C. Meranese, closely followed by the host Brigitte Vasselai.
