Seven long and hard mountain stages over the most beautiful but also most difficult passes of the Alps were conquered by 500 teams of 2. 785 kilometres, 18,810 metres in altitude and 17 passes, including the notorious Stilfser Joch, the Arlberg, Flüela and Albulapass, had to be mastered.
