29th Dolomiten Radrundfahrt / Giro Delle Dolomiti 2005

 

On Sunday the 31.07.2005 started the 29th Giro delle Dolomiti. 6 Dynamic bikers set themselves the challenge to master many beautiful, but also demanding tours in 6 stages.

The first stage led from Bolzano to Jenesien, via Mölten to Hafling and back to Bolzano. Already the first ascent to Jenesien, which was ridden on time, awakened the race fever in everyone. Armin Tschigg proved once again his masterly qualities as a climber and finished 14th overall. It was particularly exciting between 3 Dynamic Bikers, whose time difference at the end of the time trial was less than a minute. Reinhard Giovanelli was able to finish ahead of his two opponents Luis Pichler and Hans Telfner. So the next stages promise to be exciting.

After the time trial there was a little refreshment at the Jenesien sports field, then it went on at a rather moderate pace to Hafling. Unfortunately, all 700 participants were welcomed there by heavy rain showers, the descent to Merano thus became somewhat uncomfortable.

All 6 Dynamic bikers have completed the Dolomites Bike Tour well. The enthusiasm about this week full of eventful stages was great. Especially the 4th stage starting from Dobbiaco was a real challenge due to the very steep climb up to the Auronzo hut (also known as Muro del Pianto). Crowned by a fantastic landscape and good weather, this day will be remembered for a long time.

The last stage, with the time trial on Girlan, was only short, but still biting. Here the last forces were mobilized once again to place well in the overall standings. The best Dynamic biker was Armin Tschigg, who finished 5th in his category with an overall 15th place. Followed by Christian Sanco (51st overall) and Luca Smaniotto (92nd overall) there were 3 Dynamic Bikers among the first 100 of almost 700 participants.
In our competing trio, Hans Telfner was able to pull away from his two team riders Luis Pichler and Reinhard Giovanelli.

The team finished 9th in the team points standings.
