2nd Berchtesgadener Land Radmarathon

The three CHIBA Alpencup cycling marathons 2006 are again a real challenge for experienced marathon riders and for marathon beginners:
- 28.5.2006 13th Amadé Radmarathon in Radstadt (AUT)
- 18.6.2006 2nd Berchtesgadner Land Marathon in Bad Reichenhall (GER)
- 16.7.2006 1st Engadiner Radmarathon in Zernez (SUI)

He did it, after 205 kilometres and 3,180 metres of altitude on two wheels, he is the winner of the 2nd Berchtesgadener Land Cycling Marathon in 5:42.48 hours: Andreas Ortner from Anger - the man of the 18th June 2006 in Berchtesgadener Land - rejoices. Second place in 5:43,10 hours was shared by Stefan Kogler from St. Gilgen in Salzburg Land and Thomas Brengartner from Bad Reichenhall. The two athletes had cycled hand in hand across the finish line.
The Italian Anna Corona earned her crown as marathon winner in Berchtesgadener Land for the second time. The 45-year-old athlete from Morbegno left many a fast man behind her with an excellent overall time of 6:24.52 hours over the 205-kilometre course and relegated the German Cornelia Heinig from Nobitz and the Italian Alessandra Buccioli to second place. The winner of the age group up to 1962, Katrin Eichhoff from Munich, was the second lady to break the seven-hour mark with a fast time of 6:37.03 hours. In her class, 32-year-old Alexandra Franz from Ramsau and 31-year-old Austrian Michaela Voss came close to this women's sound barrier in 7:08.05 hours and 7:09.16 hours respectively.
Off they went: 1,787 athletes set off on their marathon tour at 7.30 a.m. in front of the Old Saltworks in Bad Reichenhall after the starting gun was fired by the Mayor of Reichenhall, Dr Herbert Lackner, and the Managing Director of Berchtesgadener Land Tourismus GmbH (BGLT), Gabriele Deml. Already early in the morning, many had come to the spa town of Bad Reichenhall to cheer on friends, acquaintances, relatives. In total, more than 10,000 fans experienced the races along the route and at the cyclists' festivities.
