Sanvit Trophy 2006 at the Gleifhügel

On Sunday 12th March the 9th mountain bike race "Raiffeisen-Südtirol-Cup" took place in Eppan.
Despite the temperatures around 0°C and the icy wind, the 158 registered participants did not let themselves be deterred from going to the start.

High-ranking mountain bike celebrities competed, among them the Italian champion Tony Longo, Hannes Pallhuber, Mike Felderer, Martino Fruet, Franz Hofer to name but a few.
At 10 a.m. it was time for the pupils, youth and women to start the race. In the youth category Gerhard Kerschbaumer left the competition behind him. He won with a lead of almost 4 minutes ahead of Alex Huber, Andreas Hanni and Leo Jocher.
At 12 noon the starting signal was given for the junior, master and elite riders. Tony Longo and Hannes Pallhuber crossed the finish line at the same time and thus took the victory in their respective categories U23 and Elite. Mike Felderer finished 2nd and Austria's Robert Kircher 3rd in the Elite category. Manuel Gschnell and Gunther Huber took 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the U23 category.
