Beat Hauser - "1 million metres in elevation" project: april 2010

5/4/2010

Beat Hauser from Passeiertal Valley wants to climb a whole 1 million metres of altitude on his racing bike this year

That's the equivalent of 2,740 metres of elevation per calendar day! And at the moment things are looking good for the record attempt.

"Hello everyone,
I haven't heard anything for a long time now, but from my point of view not much has happened. Unfortunately, the recent cold spell still doesn't allow me to ride the beautiful passes in my area. Only the Mendel Pass is quite passable. But since I'm collecting altitude metres and not passes, I usually turn around in a temperature zone that makes the descent still somewhat bearable.
One route I ride quite often on weekdays is:
Merano - Lana - Gampenpass to Tisens - Nals - Mendelpass (up to approx. 1,100m altitude) - Kalterer See - Kalterer Höhe - Nals - Tisens - Merano - St. Leonhard. This always involves more than 3,000 metres of altitude.
Hopefully, if there are really interesting tours coming up soon, I will enter them more often in the daily kilometres. Entries marked with an asterisk (*) also have a route description.
Today I did a quite interesting tour over the Tschöggelberg. Last week on Sunday I went over the Ritten to Wangen in the Sarntal.
Nice weather is forecast for the next few days, I hope the temperatures really start to rise now.

See you soon
Beat"
