Beat Hauser - "1 million metres in elevation" project: february 2010

22/2/2010

Beat Hauser from Passeiertal Valley wants to climb a whole 1 million metres of altitude on his racing bike this year

That's the equivalent of 2,740 metres of elevation per calendar day!

"Hello everyone,
I think it's time for a little report again.
The metres in altitude are piling up and the mood varies from good to gloomy. Some days have been very cold and especially days like today are getting to me. Five to six degrees and high humidity don't suit me at all. But most of the time it was nice weather with six to 10 degrees and sunshine. That's bearable.
Fortunately, we only had a few rainy days, there have been three so far. On these days, I have to admit, I got on the Ergo. I toiled for five to six hours with programmes on tour stages, Kitzbühler-Horn and the like. 700-800 metres of altitude per hour and an average of 190 watts were the result.
Otherwise, climbs to Vellau, Jenesien, the Ritten or Terlan-Mölten can be ridden very well. At the moment I ride up to 1,000-1,200 m above sea level on pass roads.
But you can see that the sun is getting stronger every day and it won't be long before the first passes have to be done.
See you soon and maybe we'll meet somewhere..........

Beat"
