Beat Hauser - "1 million metres in elevation" project: january 2010

22/1/2010

Beat Hauser from Passeiertal Valley wants to climb a whole 1 million metres of altitude on his racing bike this year

That's the equivalent of 2,740 metres of elevation per calendar day!

"Hello,
I'm back home. So after 18 days in Gran Canaria, I'm back on the roads back home. As it was unusually warm on the island for this time of year, I first have to get over the cold shock, the temperature difference is 30 degrees and more after all.
There was a lot of activity on the roads of Gran Canaria, even photo teams and national training groups were on the road. I also met some friends from home and it was a lot of fun.

My balance of the last 17 days:

  • 77,270 metres of elevation (daily average 4,545 m)
  • 3,134 km (185 daily kilometres)
  • 158 hours (9,5h per day)
  • 70 passes

For the next few weeks, the altitude gain will be somewhat more modest. If the weather somehow cooperates, I will be on the road every day.

Beat"
