DBT club championship 2012

The 15th of August has been a fixed date in the racing calendar of every Dynamic Biker for several years now: this is when the club champion is determined!

Although a number of high-calibre riders did not take part in this year's race (including the "current" club champion Michi Aster and last year's third-placed Mathias Schweiggl), the field of participants included the "crème de la crème" of the Überetsch cycling team's riders.

The route was familiar, with 490 metres of climbing over 11.4 km. New this year was a division of the categories, a hobby category was introduced for all non-FCI-tesserted or just for all hobby cyclists. The race started at 10 a.m. in the tried and tested 30-second intervals, and the good weather promised a great day of racing. Once all the participants (30 in number) were on the course, it was just a case of waiting and keeping our fingers crossed ...

And there was an almost expected favourite victory: Michael Zemmer put his stamp on the 2012 Dynamic Bike Team club race, winning in a new record time of 27:29.81 min!!! Christian Resch came second in 28:55.95 min, closely followed by last year's runner-up Markus Götsch. He was unable to improve on his great time from last year and finished third in a time of 28:58.76 min.

The hobby category was won by our youth coach Lukas Kleindienst in 31:07.07 min, ahead of Roland Zozin in second place (31:42.29 min) and Peter Zöggeler in third place (34:42.31 min).

Denise Meraner was the only female participant to finish the race in 41:15.94 min, albeit on a mountain bike!
Unfortunately, no children's or youth race was organised this year, as too few children had registered due to the holiday period. But we hope to organise a great race again next year!

After the race there was a hearty lunch for all participants and their families, and the cosy afternoon came to an end with the subsequent prize-giving.
