Final round of the AFENO Cross and Bike Cup

The 6th and last race of the Swiss AFENO Cross and Bike Cup 2022 series took place last Saturday in Pfaffnau, a town with 2,000 inhabitants in the canton of Lucerne.
Before the race, our cyclo-crosser Sebastian Bertoli was in 3rd place overall in the "Group Quer B" category: the gap to the front was already large, and 3rd place had to be defended.

The weather was not unusual for November, and as is almost typical for cyclocross races: it was raining cats and dogs, the muddy and soggy track was almost unrideable. The participants visibly struggled to stay in the saddle, and so the race became a battle from the start to the finish line. For Sebastian, the race went reasonably well: he rode consistent lap times and was able to keep up with the leading group, but in the last of the 9 laps, the pace was sharply increased and he lost the connection: so he finally had to settle for 5th place, but was able to maintain his 3rd place in the final standings.
