Mountain Bike Youth Italian Cup - the finals

Rovetta, a small northern Italian municipality with about 4,000 inhabitants, was last weekend the scene of the 5th and final stage of this year's Youth Italy Cup.

The Dynamic Bike Team arrived on Saturday morning with the two boys Paul Marschall and Johannes Bendetta; Julia Kostner unfortunately had to cancel the race participation due to a cold. Already at the arrival it rained lightly, and also the complete course inspection in the afternoon took place in the rain: especially the steep descents were extremely slippery, it was necessary to be careful not to injure yourself.

On Sunday it was a bit friendlier: the rain had subsided during the night and the track had dried up slightly. Paul had to start the first race at 9 a.m. - for him, as for Johannes, 3 laps had to be completed. He had just come out of a 2-week break due to illness, and he was still clearly lacking in strength. He gritted his teeth and finished the race in 53rd place in his age group. Johannes had a somewhat larger starting field, and had to start further back due to missing points. But he also managed to keep his position until the finish, and ranked 62nd in his first Italy Cup race. Both managed the difficult course without crashing, and are now preparing for the next appearance: the race in Val di Sole in 2 weeks.
