DBT Club Race 2023

15/8/2023

Gregor Pinggera new Dynamic Bike Team Club Champion 2023 - Anna Spitaler wins in the women's category

12 years after the last DBT club champion from Eppan - Michi Aster from Girlan in 2011 - there was once again a "local" winner this year: the 19-year-old mountain biker Gregor Pinggera from St. Michael took the crown. He left his competitors no chance and won ahead of Andreas Kofler (Karneid) and Oskar Marasca (also Eppan) who both achieved the same ranking as in 2022.

The route remained unchanged from the previous year: from Gand to Matschatsch, with a length of approx. 6 km and approx. 440 metres in altitude. It was decided to return to the previous start mode, i.e. there was a group start, with almost 20 dynamic bikers (15 men and 4 women) venturing out onto the road to determine the fastest among them.

As in the previous year, the reigning club champion (this year in persona of Christian Resch) was not at the start due to a holiday planned in advance.
The start was at 8.30 a.m., the group went together on the relatively short, but therefore not less hard route to Matschatsch.

Already after the Kalterer Höhe, a group of 5 was in the lead, which would decide the podium among themselves.
The decision was also relatively clear this year: with a strong attack just 800m before the finish, Gregor broke away from the group and was the first to cross the finish line on Matschatsch - winner and thus first-time club champion 2023 ... Congratulations! In a sprint to the finish line, the two-time club champion Andreas Kofler (Karneid) and Oskar Marasca from Eppan, who also performed very well this year, followed in second and third place. Valentin Riegler came in a close fourth, 3 tenths of a second behind Oskar.

Afterwards, a cross country race was held for the youngsters on the grounds of the Priska Kelderer riding school. Here, too, two top performers, Paul Marschall and Julia Kostner, were missing due to holidays.
The kids had to ride the course, which was equipped with artificial obstacles, several times depending on their age group.
Hannes Egger (baby), Laura Martini as well as Max Plunger and Christoph Kofler (7-10 years), Simon Lintner (11-12 years), Marie Überbacher and Jakob Weger (13-14 years) won in the youngest category.

The parents then rounded off the event with the parents' race, which was very much to the delight of the kids present. Susanne Maier won the mummy race and Robby Psenner the daddy race.
