Michael Spögler says goodbye to competitive sport

The news came as a great surprise to many.
"It's time to say goodbye" - the likeable mountain specialist from Sarner says "Pfiati" and hangs up his racing bike. He is ending his long and very successful racing career, and now wants to dedicate himself to new goals.
"I already made this decision for myself last summer,

Michael has achieved a lot over the last few years. He has been the reigning Italian champion in mountain biking since 2019, and in the last 5 years alone has taken a total of 4 national titles, 40 race wins as well as celebrating 20 other podium finishes. He won the Glocknerkönig (where he holds the course record since 2019) and the Tour of Sardinia, among others, and took part in the World Championships in South Africa with the Italian national MTB team.

He will complete his master's degree in sports management and exercise science in June and would like to work in the coaching sector afterwards.
Michael Spögler will not be defending his title at the Mendel Pass - winner in 2021 and 2022 - this year.
But we will certainly continue to meet him at one or the other race track in the future ...
