First youth podium at the Sunshine Race in Nals

After the international Marlene Sunshine Race on Saturday, the races of the youth categories of the 13 to 16 year olds took place today, Sunday, within the framework of the Campionato Italiano Giovanile di Società, i.e. the Italian Youth Championship of the clubs.
In ideal racing weather, more than 400 young people from Italy and abroad gathered at the start of the various U15 and U17 age categories.
The 4 girls' categories started at 9.30 a.m., which went on the track at intervals of 2 minutes. Julia Kostner was at the start in the 14-year-old girls' category and this time she came out of the starting blocks almost perfectly and was able to overtake one opponent after another already in the first of the 2 laps. And after a little more than 30 minutes she surprisingly and much to everyone's delight crossed the finish line in 4th place.
The next start was reserved for the 13-year-old boys. Here Jakob Weger was able to start a little further forward due to the points he had scored in the last race; Niko Bernard had to start from the back of the field. After the start lap plus two approx. 4km laps, Jakob was again able to fully convince with 23rd place and thus further points; Niko gained further valuable racing experience in his first international racing year with 55th place.
Paul Marschall was the next dynamic biker to start his race. On the same long track, he had to hold his own against almost 80 other racers of the same age. After getting away reasonably well at the start, he managed - after a botched first lap - to make up places in lap 2, and finished the race in 62nd place.
The last race of the day, at least from the point of view of our youth team, was Johannes Bendetta's; for him there were 3 laps on the programme. He also lost a lot of time and places in his first lap, but was able to make up some ground in lap 2, and finally reached 52nd place after a little more than 50 minutes of racing.

Now it's time to regenerate and recharge the batteries - on Thursday we're off to Elba: the international cross country race "Capoliveri Bike Young" will take place there on Easter Sunday.
