Good start for the South Tyrolean youth representative team in the MTB Italian Cup

One first, one second and one third place. The youth athletes of the South Tyrolean national team climbed onto the podium three times in the first of five rounds of the Italian Youth Cup in mountain biking (cross country). This year's event began once again in Sicily, in Agrigento, against the picturesque backdrop of the Valley of the Temples.

The very first race of the day saw South Tyrol's Franz Engele, competing for ASC Kardaun, impressively prevail over Davide Quattrone (Piedmont) and Alessandro Turatta (Veneto) in the 13-year-old boys' category.

In the 13-year-old girls' category, his team-mate Greta Scuderi also celebrated a very good result with second place behind Irene Righetto (Veneto).
Sophie Messmer, competing for the For Fun Cycling Team Kaltern, then took third place on the podium in the 15-year-old girls' category, while Nadia Lercher (Bike Team Gais), who is the same age, came fifth.

Also noteworthy for the provincial selection was Franz Pallhuber's (RH Racing Kronplatzking) 7th place despite technical problems in the 16-year-old boys' category and Eppan dynamic biker Jakob Weger's 10th place (14-year-old male category).

In the regional rankings, the South Tyrolean team came 3rd with 322 points, behind Lombardy (258 points) and Veneto (348 points).
