Internazionali d'Italia Series 2025 - 1st stage in San Zeno di Montagna (VR)

 

Difficult race for our UCI categories in the first stage of the Internazionali d'Italia Series 2025 in San Zeno di Montagna (VR):
After the incessant rain of the previous days, the course had already been put to the test during the inspection on Friday 14 March. The following race day was characterised by cold weather and recurring rain.
In the juniors category - the first start of the day - Johannes Bendetta competed for the first time in this new age group: he had to line up at the back (as he was still without points) and, despite a decent start, lost a lot of ground on the opening lap. The mud stuck to the chain and wheels forced Jo to push the bike more than pedal. The adventure ended for Johannes after only two laps, in 95th place in the final classification.
Our junior from Sarentino, Sofie Schieder, did not fare much better: she too had to stop early, preferring not to ruin her bike too much, and retired after 2 laps.
Gregor already had bad luck on Friday afternoon during the course inspection (technical defect in the rear wheel) and was unable to complete it; he then decided not to take part in Saturday's race.
