ENDURO Team

Dynamic Bike Team Eppan goes ENDURO!

With the year 2021, we as an association have set ourselves a new challenge:
We want to grow as a cycling club and expand the range of activities for our members.
Also due to an increased demand, the Team Enduro was created: equipped with a new team outfit, our guys participate in various events such as the Enduro World Series -> and the Toscano Enduro Series -> as well as in the national championships.

What exactly is MTB Enduro?
The mountain bike discipline Enduro is a mixture of cross country and downhill. Each rider has to alternately complete several downhill-oriented special stages and the connecting sections in between. For this purpose, riders usually use their own enduro bikes as sports equipment. These have between 150 and 170 mm of suspension travel and can also be ridden reasonably uphill.

The international cycling federation UCI recognised this sport - also due to the steadily increasing interest - as an independent discipline in cycling in 2014 and defined rules for it.

The most important features of an Enduro race are:
- The focus of the enduro race is on the physical and technical abilities of the participant.
- Special stages are mostly downhill, but short pedalling and uphill sections are possible and allowed.
- The difficulty of the courses varies from easy to almost unrideable.
- The times of the individual special stages will be added together and given as a total time.
- The connecting stages between the individual special stages can be completed either mechanically or under one's own power. Depending on the race, there are pre-set times that must be adhered to, otherwise there will be time penalties.

Depending on the race format, the stages can be visited and practised, or driven on sight (blind). In many race series, it has become established that the race course is only announced one day before the race, and that training can only take place on the following day. In the EWS (Enduro World Series), each stage may only be ridden once.

In the event of a defect, the rider is on his own; he is not allowed to call on outside help; the replacement of parts such as frame, suspension fork, shock or wheels is punishable by a time penalty.
